In 2015, Gerry was awarded ‘Performer of the Year’ at the Irish Farmers Journal Awards. In 2016 he won the Sunday World ‘Radio Single Award’.
Guthrie covers acclaimed country classics such as ‘Lucille’ by Kenny Rodgers. He also covers other 1970s country hits that are sure to get the crowd going.
Declan is another great addition to the line up. Some of you may already know of Saturdays’ star Una Foden’s uncle Declan Nerney-a Longford based singer-songwriter.
Declan covers the country greats in true traditional Irish showband fashion. He was heavily influenced by Elvis, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
This act is guaranteed to generate a feel-good factor which is a huge part of the matchmaking festivities.
This talented country starlet has been on the Irish music scene since the young age of 22. She took part in Irish talent show Glor na Tire in 2011 and now the Glaswegian singer now has 6 albums under her belt. Her most recent album was #LisaLive. Having won female vocalist of the year 5 years running, it’s easy to see why her #LisaLive tour has been a roaring success in the UK. Prepare to be dazzled by the princess of country at this year’s Matchmaking Festival. Lisa is sure to go down a treat!
Finally for weekend one, catch Barry Kirwan, son of Irish country legend Dominic Kirwan. As a result of his genetic makeup, it comes as no surprise that this country star had dreams of success from an early age. Barry exceled in drumming, dance and acting in his early years. He also went on to be a drummer and backing vocalist for his Dad’s band. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that this talented country star wants to make it big in his solo career. Voted ‘Newcomer of the Year’ in 2016, Barry Kirwan is sure to take the country scene by storm.
Week 2 Lineup
Lisdoonvarna’s Matchmaking Festival sees singletons flock from far and wide to find love. Not only is there romance on the cards but there is also great music and craic too.
The second country weekend promises to be equally as good as the first counterpart with another exceptional lineup taking to the stage.
Having been on the entertainment scene for 13 years, a performance by the ‘Galway Boy’ won’t disappoint. With 14 country albums and 4 DVDs under his belt, Denver is an accomplished country star. His latest album ‘Cut Loose’ went to number 1 in the Irish charts.
Mike is a true performer and as a result knows that people come to his shows for his stage presence and entertainment factor so you’re guaranteed a great show.
Cliona O’ Hagan
This nationally acclaimed starlet of All Ireland Talent Show fame, will be appearing at the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival this year. Cliona is probably one of Ireland’s best known country singers. This stunning starlet bears a striking resemblance to Dolly Parton and it comes as no surprise that she has been influenced by this iconic country star.
Cliona has been on the cusp of stardom for the past decade and 2017 saw her support Nathan Carter on his tour dates and she received the title of ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ after releasing her debut album Straight to You which reached number 1 on the iTunes chart.
There are plenty of opportunities on the horizon for Cliona this year. Not only will she be appearing at our Matchmaking Festival, she is also releasing her second album.
Prepare to be amazed by the vocal talents of Cliona O’ Hagan at the matchmaking festival.
Involved in music since the age of 12, it’s not surprising that Derek Ryan ended up a country star. While most people might only dream of having a career in the music industry, Ryan makes his living from strumming an acoustic guitar. He has also picked up two awards in Ceili Drumming and Bodhran playing.
An evening of great music and good fun can definitely be expected at the matchmaking festivities.
